A couple of hours fishing

After the club match on tues night we had some bait left and headed out last night for a couple of hours fishing to see what was about. We planed to fish the tide down and a couple off hours back up. We arrived about 7pm with a nice surf running along the beach. First bass fell to Shane as the tide started to fill in the gully's around 10pm. Not big fish just schoolies, best one I lost in the surf about 3lbs light hooked in the mouth, it popped the hook as it shook it head.

The bites were not aggressive just small taps like flounder bites, they were either on or holding onto the bait as we lost a few like that. We packed up around 2am so much for a couple of hours but you have to take it as it happens. In total we had 11 bass and 2 whiting between us all fish were returned back alive.

Solway Outing

As Loch Etive only produced a couple of fish the last time Shane and myself was up it was time to go some where else. Our chosen venue was to try down the Solway, arriving at our mark around 3pm. First bite fell to myself with it resulting in a slack liner and the chance to land the first fish which fell to Shane after landing a small flounder.

I was next into some fish which resulted in landing 2 doggies. This was the norm for most off the day

We called it a day around 8pm and headed back up the road. The best fish fell to Shane a nice flounder of around 1 1/2lbs maybe heavier thus adding a few species to the species hunt.

Fishing the local beach

After fishing the club match a couple of nights ago with only little fish being caught. Shane and I decided to give the local beach ago as we had some bait left over. The weather was not pleasant at all leaving in the rain and arriving in the rain.

We had a small window to get the waders and water proof jackets on before hitting the beach. First cast produced a nice brace of flounders for me.

Then Shane had a nice coalie and some small codling along with myself.

We ended the night with some more codling and coalies and one last flounder for me.

Just goes to show you what a couple of night can do.

A few hours fishing

Shane picked me up about 10am and we went digging some bait. With plenty of bait dug we headed on to our fishing destination. When we got there and another angler was fishing and the surf looked good as I was looking for a bass for the club species hunt. Shane got his last time out which put him ahead with 19 species caught and 18 for me.

Got the rods up and traces baited and fired out just put my rod on the rest and a few taps on the tip resulted in a small bass was I chuffed blank off and another species ticked off.

We fished for five and half hours and had 28 bass from half a pound to one and half pounds drop four between us and Shane had a small flounder.

Species Hunt

Went fishing with my son Shane on a few species hunt. First we went for some wrasse and we had a few. Nothing big but ticked a few boxes on thee species list.

Next we went for some Smooth Hounds and Tope. No tope wanted to play but some small Smooth Hounds did show up biggest one at 5lbs 4ozs.

We headed out last night with some bait we had left from the club match on wens night. Picked our spot on the beach as the wind was howling and white waves heading into the beach. A nice results for Shane as he landed 3 nice bass from 3lbs to 4lb range. A blank session for me the only difference I noticed was Shane was using a different trace just goes to show you.

That now makes us both on 18 species each.

Surprise Fishing

As the club match was rearranged for another week my son Shane and I decided to go fishing anyway. We already had the bait so off to our mark we headed. Arriving there it did not look promising as the dark clouds were above us and the wind had picked up a little. Shane had the frist bite on his first cast which turned out to be a small smoothie nice to see.

Species hunting

Went a few hours fishing with my two sons. We headed up to etive to start this years species hunt.
After arriving there things did not look good as it was a bit too calm. The water was like a sheet of glass.
A couple of hours went by and not a touch. Nico was the first to land a small thornie. Still nothing for Shane and myself as he landed another thornie.
By the end of the session we managed thornies spurs dogfish and small codling. So not a bad session after all.
