Port Patrick Boat outing

Shane Mark and myself headed to Port Patrick on Sunday to meet up with the other 9 guy's going out on the charter boat Predator 2. We had been out with Dominic last time and he put us on the fish and we were not disappointed this time too.

Leaving the harbour at 9am and heading to our first stop inshore as the tide was a bit stronger then we thought for any tope fishing. Shane was first to land a couple of fish a nice haddock around a 1lb mark and a small spur of 3lbs 6ozs then the doggies began to play everyone getting them.

As the tide slackened a bit around 12 we headed out for the bigger ones. At first we were hit with doggies again then Pete landed a nice Bull huss at 14lbs. Iain was next to land a nice tope of 23lbs 6ozs. Then some of the guys were landing doggies and Shane some whitting around the 1lb mark. I was next with a Bull huss at 11lbs 8ozs and then Matt was into something big maybe a bigger tope as his 50lb class rod had a good bend and as he got some line onto his reel the line snapped.

The last couple of hours we went Pollack fishing and a few were caught. We had a sweep £2.50 for the heaviest fish and £2.50 for any other heaviest fish. Well done to Iain and Pete winning  £30 each. A good days fishing.

River Tay Outing

Willie Stewart Robert Eddie Mark and myself all headed to the river tay for our yearly outing. Eddie picking me up at 6.20am with Mark we head up the road. We arrived at the tay around 8.00 and waited for Willie Stewart and Robert to arrive then we headed to the site.

Willie Stewart Robert and Eddie went out on the boats in the morning while Mark and I stay on the bank. It was not as cold as last year with the sun shining for most off the day.

It is a stunning view and place to see. About an hour and a half into the fishing I got stuck on a rock or twigs under the water but managed to get it out into what I thought was another snag but as I moved closer I felt the line move off and some head shaking fish on. Eddie was watching from the boat and asked if it was a fish replied aye. They headed over as Eddies boat had a landing net while Mark was a good bit up from me with our landing net. After a good fight with it running up the bank one way then back down taking line as it went. Glad I took my little bait runner as it made it easy to let the fish take line and well done to Eddie who landed it for me. Result a little 8lber.

Eddie was next into a fish which gave him a good fight too and once it was landed onto the boat it came in at 10lbs nice one mate. Don't have a pict as Stewart took the pict on the boat once I have one from Eddie I will put it on. After lunch we headed back out with 3 on the bank and the other 3 out on the boats.

The day ended with nothing else being caught but what a view to end the day.
