As the club match was rearranged for another week my son Shane and I decided to go fishing anyway. We already had the bait so off to our mark we headed. Arriving there it did not look promising as the dark clouds were above us and the wind had picked up a little. Shane had the frist bite on his first cast which turned out to be a small smoothie nice to see.

Arbroath Boat Charter Outing
Frank Shane and myself headed to Arbroath for a days fishing aboard MV Ardent. Arriving at McDonald's in Arbroath around 8.00am meeting the other guys Matt James Davie and Tony for a coffee and a quick tactic's chat. Headed out at 9.00am and drifted a couple of times close in shore.Matt was the first one into a what looked like a good fish on his spinning rod a small cod off 1lb 8ozs.
As there was only small fish about the skipper decided to head over to the bell rock light house which proved to be the better move.Frank had a good solid bite as he hit bottom but after a couple off turns on the reel it popped the hook. A few nice fish were about but as the tide started to pick up the skipper tried to keep us on the fish as the drift became a bit quicker. Through out the day the main stay was cod wrasse and a small ling for Tony.
On the day we ran a sweep of £5.00. £17.50 going to the heaviest cod and £17.50 to any other heaviest fish. James had the heaviest cod at 4lbs 5ozs. Davie had a nice Ballan Wrasse at 1lb 10ozs well done guys a good day out for all. Looking forward to the next one lads.

River Tay
Eddie and myself headed to the Tay for our first shot at a salmon.
We arrived after a small detour and met up with Stewart and Willie.
Gear at the ready we headed down to the bank and straight onto the boat.
Never fish the river in an boat before quite different form the bank.
After a while with no success just a small rattle on Eddie`s lure but came to nothing
We headed in to fish the bank
After lunch we headed back out and fished for the next 3 hours with nothing to show
Mind you not for the lack of trying on both our parts.
I guess the only consolation was to sea a nice salmon jump right next to the boat
Just missing Eddies lure and I did not have my camera at hand.
Back on the bank we had a couple of last ditched attempts before Stewart and Willie arrived back.
Willie showed us a video of Stewart landing an salmon of about 10 lbs nice fight Stewart had.
Well done that man looking forward to the next time.
